Go Trojans! I graduated in '99. I had a 1250 SAT and a 3.75 GPA. I really loved my experience. While some of my other friends complained about fighting to get the classes they wanted, and sitting in large classes, I always felt like people cared about me as much as my money. USC is always great about finding funding for students. I decided it was going to be just as expensive to go to USC as UCLA.

The atmosphere is great and I managed to get an English degree, a teaching credential, and a Jr. year abroad all in 4 years.

And you can't beat the football team! ;)

I didn't go to USC but I wanted to say that University of Southern California is not a state school like the person above said. It's a private school, which means private school tuition.
I've heard it's a good school if you actually go to class. They have a lot of partying and stuff there so a lot of people don't make it through. Also, it's really hard to get into. I had a friend who had good extracurriclars, good grades, and great SAT scores. She didn't get in. You have to be one of the top students to get in.

Didn't go there... I'm assuming Southern Cal, not South Carolina.
But, make sure whatever you are majoring in, you are able to complete the degree in four years. I've heard a lot of California state schools have degree tracks that you can't physically complete in four years...

My advice, pick a school that fits what you want to accomplish at college, not by the name. USC may be your fit but make sure you're not giving up something about you for a great college sports team or something like that. My son is looking a big name school but couldn't continue XC running, something important to him. I think a better choice is a smaller school where he could run and major in the same field...
