The Republican party has gone way to far to the right. People like Falwell and Robertson have a right wing agenda.
I left the Republicans because they left me and other moderates behind.

Republican Party uses religious issues to gain votes from their base, but to say they control it is going a tad too far and Falwell is not your best example -- Ralph Reed would have been a better choice and Bush would has been best -- he has apocolyptic Christian beliefs. Those here saying that the religious right does not have a great deal of influence on the Republican party are not paying attention

Well put, Jesi. The only one controlling the Rupublicans is Bush and Company, with the help of Ken Mehlman. Of course the Democrats have nothing to be proud of, either, with Howard Dean in command.
No one, and especially those at the top, speaks for the party as a whole.

Republicans choose to call themselves the occasion of the huge Tent all are welcome different than while you're: professional decision, anti, gun, pay, for our surroundings, taxing the wealthy or you oppose an immoral conflict you're no longer welcome in the attempt. That leaves room for the Falwell, Robertson, Limbaugh and Rove. With team no longer plenty room left in the tent.

I don't think that Jerry Falwell controls the republican party, the republican party has enough control already.

Falwell in no way represents or controls the Republican party. Where did you come up with this trash?
Jesi, I am always impressed by your comments.

The republicans are no more controlled by Jerry Falwell than the democrats are controlled by Barbara Streisend.
Falwell is a relic and has appointed himself their spokesman, but holds no real power as the Religious Right has so marginalized themselves. The core of the Republican party is moderates. Uninformed democrats call them neo-cons, but they are not conservative, except in comparison to the marxist democratic party ideals.
ADDED: No Jim like most things, you are wrong. Falwell and the religious right DO NOT represent the marjority of Republicans. At first I thought you were just baiting people, you really don't believe this do you? Turn off Al Franken and CNN and join reality.

Just because you flunked out of Liberty University doesn't mean he hates you. It may have been your lack of desire to listen that caused you to fail.
I haven't heard anything about Falwell in years.

He has found his home with the other prophets of hate Pat Robertson who play upon the innocent and seek to be men of God. Since when did Jesus teach the ideas of hate, bigority and making money?
I also left Republican Party when began to influence the make up of the party. With these guys in control before too long we will be theocracy and not a democracy. Kill a gay and pro choice person for Jesus!
