Using a French Curve instrument will help a lot. It will allow you to draw lines of varying curvature. See the link for an image of one: http://mathworld.wolfram.com/FrenchCurve.html (Edited link)

For formulas for egg curves, see: http://www.mathematische-basteleien.de/eggcurves.htm

Play around with the french curve, and you will figure it out quick enough.

You can draw a perfect oval by hammering two nails into a board and placing a string loosely around them then tracing against the string pulled taut from the inside. to make an egg shape, I'm thinking you could use two nails at one end instead of one. Try it!
