Are you really commited to helping us honest people or is it all quotas for the police statistics. Do you think it would improve your public profile if you laid off the motorist or are we all asking for it for doing 85mph on the motorway? Alternatively would you like to get out there and clean up the streets? Hey I am not knocking you I tried to join but failed the medical. Are you tied up in red tape and political correctness or has the media got you all wrong?

I was a London police officer for 30 years and I can assure you that the vast majority of police officers have an ethos of service that, were it translated into the population at large, would make for a better society.
As regards the motorist, I have just driven over 700 miles and, apart from in Torquay, only seen 1 police car, so they are most certainly NOT out terrorising motorists. And anyway, how often, each and every day, do you see someone driving in a way that makes you think, "I wish the Old Bill saw that"?
The leadership in the police service, particularly Ian Blair and his Yes-men, leave a lot to be desired and there is a huge lack of police on the streets. Equally, the quotas they have insisted on means a lowering of standards and you will find young recruits are no longer (sometimes) of the standard you might expect.
Do me a favour - join the Special Constabularly where you live, work as often as you can alongside regular officers, and you will see that they are wonderful people doing an exceptionally difficult job.
It's a bit like being a politician, but with an added ingredient - HONESTY.

Infringement of regulations by motorists requires relatively little police or CPS work, causes minimal risk to officers and generates revenue.
Pursuit of petty criminals without assets is time consuming, expensive and after legal aid has funded their defence, the punishments seem not to justify the effort.
I suspect that the CPS has quietly instructed some constabularies to concentrate on the 'quick nick' as this is not only cost effective but also produces superficially better statistics.
Tough on Middle England that pays the cost.
I am not a Police Officer, just one of HM many disgruntled subjects.
PS Unable to see why KU suggests carrying a bible will help.

The pantomime of signing the genuine secrets and techniques act is to drum in to the signers head the outcomes of breaking It! As we are all coated by it despite if we've signed it or no longer` So in case you come across to a central authority or militia secret and purely happen to exhibit stated secret to ether a much off places potential or an enemy of the state then you definately will rapidly sense the finished wait of the ACT descend down upon your head like a ton of bricks!

On behalf of my kid brother who is a copper...if you get caught speeding, don't whine. You knew the rules. There is more Red Tape every week. If you f*ck up once everyone wants your head. The streets will never get cleaned up because most people don't want to know. And there's never a shortage of people who want to punch / stab / ram you in their car.
