Call Kia and make sure you have the car's VIN number in hand so they can give you the code. You may have to get the radio taken out to find the manufacturer number possibly.

We don't know what kind of radio it is -- original equipment or aftermarket --but there is a chance that in the back end of it there is a very small notch or hole with 'reset' written by it in small letters. It's there for technicians to get the thing going again when the electronics inside foul up for whatver reason. So if you can get to the back, try that. You usually need a small, pointy thing like a very thin screw driver to hit the reset button. Even a fine wooden skewer will probably do.

Outside chance, I know, but anything's worth a try.

Good luck,

Lenky.

Your radio will be connected to the battery as most are these days. If you have the manual for the car the code you need should be in there, otherwise you will have to get in touch with the manufacturer of the radio.

I dont know if this helps but I have a 2002 Sportage.
I would bring it to a dealer..maybe the person before you had it locked so the dealership can reset it.

your car has a security code to prevent the radio from being stolen--if you bought it from original owner they may have it, or you can take it to a Kia dealership and their service dept should be able to help you, if it is original to the car
