Out of all the member countries,the US contirbutes 22% of the UN's regular budget and 27% of their peacekeeping budget--a FOURTH of the budget where there are hundreds of members. Why do we continue to prop up an organization full of waste, fraud and abuse, consisting mostly of thrid world dictators, socialists, and human rights abusers? Why do continue to put up with spending so much and getting kicked in the teeth in return?

Oh, come on!! We get plenty from the UN. Just think of all those diplomats who enter our country and are free to do and act as they please because of diplomatic immunity. I mean where else could such nonsense take place where these thugs (some of them) could be spies and terrorists. It continues to amaze me that people think the UN is the world's salvation!! I am still trying to find ONE, not many, just ONE time they have succeeded in stopping aggression, terrorism, or militant butchery. They give us all that too, and you are not grateful?? Come on!!

Because Hollywood is trying to control the U.S. The president is Michael Moore, and the vice-president is Noam Chomsky. I know two doctors who are from Romania that after 9 yearsof going throug the legal process just became American citizens. They both said that they had lived all over the world and that the U.S. was definitely the best place in the world to live. They also said that if the U.S. goes down, there is no hope for the world. I wish all the people that hate the U.S. would get out and stay out!!! It's funny that they come here and enjoy our fruits, but want to destroy us. America is so worried about what people think about us - but let me tell you something. They hate our guts even when we look the other way when they do all sorts of unspeakable things to us. If they already hate us, so the hell what!!! I say get tough.

Hey how about we started the U.N. Mrs. Roosevelt got the idea rolling. We payed for it to be built. Our troops lose their lives for it. And to tell the truth, without us they have no strength to enforce anything. I served in Somalia, and the scariest part was watching the blue helmets hide from any threat posed to them. Pakistani and Malaysian dove for cover at the sight of a gun packing Skinny.The U.N. can be effective, but like any governing body it is prone to corruption. The U.S. allows friend and foe alike to voice it's hate and love openly inside our own borders.
Bet you'll have a hard time finding that quality anywhere else.

Agree. US gets virtually nothing. Yet UN is beholden to US and does not raise voice what ever US does.It is OK to point out about Dictators,Human rights abusers. Pray why does US support nations with military dictator and perpetrating worst crimes on women and vitually in a state of war with provinces?

So what. UsS owes a lot to the world. It sucks more than 60% of the world's resources. It contributes the most towards the deterioration of the environment.

That is until the British Ambassador reminded them that there should be no representation without taxation...
