I just started this job a month ago. I do not have enough work to keep me busy. I am used to working with 40 jobs at one time, granted they were smaller and less work to be done on them, I AM BORED THOUGH. My boss knows that I do not have things to do, but doesn't give me more to do. They also told me that they are as slow as they have ever been. So I am scared that the position will fizzle if it stays slow. this is also follow up to a previous question that I asked about money and accepting another position closer to home.

I had a job very simliar to that in a law office. They wanted me there 40 hours a week but my job only took half that time. So, I just started asking around the office if there was anything I could do to help out. I found my own busy work such as updating client records and such. I also designed a client data base which would make cross referencing alot easier. In the end my employer loved my initiative and gave me alot more responsiblities and alot more money to go with it.

This happen to me when I was working at a government possition and I started cleaning the cabbinets and drawers and rearranging them, it took me 2 days to get it all done , but I did it. That kept me busy, at least for 2 days. I would do what was in my regular schedule and then follow with the cleaning and rearranging. I know this was not part of my job , but it kept me from being bored and looking like they were just paying me to sit there . Once done in the office where I was in , I started doing the same thing to our mailing office(that one really needed some cleaning) . Peace.

I am really bored too. not enough work to do and we are a pretty big company. My suggestion is start looking for another job or take another job offer there is no point of you staying where you're not happy...i have been looking myself. There is always something better out there.

Play some crazy music and start dancing like a maniac until they GIVE you something else to do. If nothing else, you'll entertain yourself as well as other bored co-workers until you find a better job. It's good exercise too...two birds ;)

If I were bored with the Job I would find some other job you need to like your job and it makes it worth going.

Just goof off and surf the internet until you get fired. And stop asking for work, that way they won't know that you don't have anything to do. Oh yeah, once you get fired collect workers comp for a while.

try to think of ways to improve the company- maybe try to get them more business somehow by marketing, etc.

look for side projects like redoing case files or something but its hard to help without knowing what your job is
