I have heard nothing but complaints about Ray Nagin and his running of this city. I talked to him last week, taking the opportunity to encourage him at the Lakeview Fest and I told him that I have teenagers at home that are unthankful too, I told him to stay the course and in time N.O. would understand. Most of us are having enough trouble managing our own homes and families but it seems so American to criticize men and women who are called upon to manage hundreds of thousands of unthankful "kids". If you can do such a wonderful "arm chair Mayor" job, then run for office, then we as Americans will undoubtedly criticize you for your inept dealings and your imcompetence. Or are you only brave enough to talk about it?

You shouldn't speak for "most others". I manage my home quite nicely, thank you--and when it is necessary to sacrifice, I sacrifice. There is nothing difficult about making prudent, common sense decisions.

Elected political leaders are expected to be up to the job. Nagin wasn't and still isn't. Would you go to a doctor for medical needs if you knew he/she wasn't up to the job of being a doctor? I hope not. Neither should we elect politicians who are inept at their part in running the government.

Nagin would probably do well as a salesman, businessman or any number of other careers, but he is clearly not qualified for crisis management, which is part of the duties of a mayor of a city such as NOLA.

Ray Nagin as obviously won you over. He's good at talking. Maybe he has learned from this experience and will be a better mayor. He will need to be. He has lost his poor naive base.

It is the nature of the human to complain about things and assume that they could do better. Most of the people are jsut venting they have no desire to run for political office they just want to vent. But I do agree there is alot of complaining going on and no one is offering a solution tho these problems.
