We'll see that apology the minute we see Anti-radical Islamist marches by Muslims. In other words, I wouldn't hold my breath.

I don't think the Pope should apologize or demand an apology. Catholics have beliefs and doctrines that are different and counter to the beliefs and doctrines of Islam. Should Muslim clerics apologize for calling Christians infidels?
Some opinions are exclusive, meaning that it is impossible to cater to competing ideas at the same time. The Pope is the leader of the Catholic Church and should be true to Catholocism. I wouldn't expect anyone in Islam to legitimize Christianity either.

And why should the Pope demand an apology from the Islamic world when he offended them? He should have an apology because of something he did? I may not agree with either religion and take a neutral POV but I dont agree with that at all. Why should we be entitled to an apology?
The entire global community is to blame for the state of the world, lets not take the easy option and blame it on "Islamic Fundamentalists".

Ya we all should get an apology from Islam, the pope said they were a religion of hate, if they wanted to disprove the pope they should have had some type of peaceful protest. But no the idiots start to blow things up and shoot nuns. Islam is a religion of hate, there are over 300 mentioning of killing the infidel or neighbor but not one passage or statement in loving your neighbor. Whats the deal with that, the entire religion is of hate.

No. The Pope should not demand anything of Islam, especially at this juncture. What is called in the West the "Arab Street" is quite opinionated and defensive; apologizing is impossible no matter what they do. Now, it is highly impolitic for the Pope to even insinuate that Islam or Islamic countries are at fault in any way. It is the Moslem awareness that Islam was indeed historically advanced by militancy that makes them britstle so much at the very notion of it. It is the truth, and it is impossible to defend in the scope of religious philosophy, just as the Christian conquest of the Americas against the indigenous people was an attrocious crime against humanity.

Who is Islam? Do you mean Yusef Islam who used to be Cat Stevens, the American singer? Why should he apologize, he had nothing to do with the Pope's outrageous contention or the ensuing violence.
Oh, maybe you mean spokesmen for Islam. Well, why did you not make yourself clear?
I agree that the Pope was improper in what he said and I believe he has an underlying prejudice that made him believe it was proper.
I also believe that the people who acted illegally in the defense of Islam should be punished. Especially the ones who committed murder.
And I believe that most Muslims, although hurt by the Popes indecent utterances, would not and have not acted out in violence against the Pope's indiscretion.

No. It is my opinion that the Pope should not appologize either. What he did is what thousands, indeed, millions of people do on a daily basis. He QUOTED A HISTORICAL FACT. It is a shame that no one has stood up to this particular idea. What the Pope did is not wrong, how it has been construed and taken out of its real meaning is wrong. When he quoted Byzantine Emperor Manuel II Paleologus
"Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and
there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his
command to spread by the sword the faith he preached."
Benedict was doing nothing more than sharing his researched knowledge of historical religious thoughts.
Where the craziness comes is from those who would like to see all other religions destroyed because their personal beliefs include the idea that there is no other way. Most religions seem to think this way. If Benedict is to appologize then I believe ALL religions everywhere should appologize for everything they do in the name of their religion. It is sickening that anyone on this Earth believes that God (any God) would want them to kill themselves and numerous innocent people in His name.

Pope Benedict is all about peace in the world, not demanding apologies, even from the Islam that tolerates a bunch of murdering terrorists in their midst, and OUR midst.
Pope John Paul II didn't demand an apology from Muslim hit man Ali Agca, who tried to murder him, but forgave him, just like the Catholic nun in Somalia recently forgave her Muslim murderer with her dying breath. Now, don't count on all Catholics being that forgiving. Some of them carry concealed weapons and don't like being shot at.

No - he should graciously accept the apology that Radical Islam should give but never will because of their complete arrogance and lack of interest in anything other than their own situation.
Radical Islam should also apologize to normal Muslim and Islamists who actually read the Quoran and live by it, and not misuse it for personal selfish gain.

How can a religion apologize? The Pope knew what he was saying and exactly what kind of response it would provoke. He has many advisors that advised him against saying what he said yet he chose to say it anyway. The ancient emperor he chose to quote was run out of power by Muslims and was throwing a hissy fit when he said it. Sore loser. The Pope chose to make a political statement in his speech and one of great ignorance. Shame on him.

No one should apologize for anything. We all have our opinions and the Pope apologized simply to end the all usual violent response of murder, pillage and arsen by Muslims who look for reasons to adhere to violence.
If Islam is going to apologize, they should apologize for 9-11, the 1993 WTC bombing, the USS Cole attack, the US Embassy bombings, the constant attacks on Israel, the beheadings of prisoners, the hatred and murder of non-muslims, the way that they have treated women and basically everything they've done in the past 1300 years since their petifile prophet started this evil religion.
