My wife LOVED Chi-Chi's and was very upset to see them go out of business in our area (Toledo, OH), particularly since it happened during her pregnancy and she craved it. We would go there once a weekend and sit in the bar area where I could watch sports and we could serve ourselves chips and salsa. Our anniversary is coming up and I'd like to find a Chi-Chi's, if they still exist, to take her to as a surprise. The only reason I have a hope that they are still around is because I remember seeing on the news that their location in New York that had the food poisoning scare with the green onions was still open even after all the ones in this area closed. Thanks, in advance, for any help.

My favorite Chi Chi's was the one in the old Fitgers Brewery overlooking Lake Superior in Duluth MN. But ours are closed now too. Have you ever been to St Cloud MN. There is a restaurant there called "The Mexican Grille" and I kid you not, they have Chi Chi's menu copied to a T. Even the names of the dishes are the same like the "Humanga changa" and "Cancun". It is my favorite place to go eat when I go there shopping and I try to go most every time I get to St Cloud. The salsa is a little different, fresher if anything but I am telling you the food tastes just the same as our beloved Chi Chi's. I always wanted it when I was pregnant too! Bring on the con queso and sour cream!

BTW, i use to eat at that Chi-Chi's by the mall too. But the Chi-Chi's restaurant is no longer. The name was bought by some food conglomerate and uses the same recipes for the salsa and chips, but the restuarant was so deep into debt you will never see it again. Rumor has it that Don Pablo's (on Airport Hwy) uses many of the same recipes anyway.

The Chi-Chi's in Orland, Illinois was knocked down a few weeks ago. There's a big lawsuit out because of a Hepatitis-A breakout at one of there restaurants, in Pittsburgh I believe. So they maybe going all down hill now.

If I remember correctly, there is one in Las Cruces NM. My parents go there often.

I am getting it called Chi-chi's in the listings, but it looks like it changed its name to Cha-chi's. I don't understand why I am getting it like that at all.
