The movie trilogy is VERY LONG (close to 9 hours total for the regular versions, almost 11 hours total for the extended versions), but Peter Jackson did an excellent job in bringing the books to life. He had to cut a lot of things out, as movie directors often do, but he cut out very little and what he did cut really didn't move the story along anyway, so no harm/no foul there. The visual effects were spectacular, the battle scenes were every bit as epic as the recognized Hollywood blockbusters like "Spartacus," and the actors he picked for the various parts were all good choices (yes, even Liv Tyler as Arwen). If you've never seen any of the movies, you'd really be better off devoting a whole day to watching all three from start to finish...

One of my favorite films next to the wizard of oz. The Lord of the Rings will surely be a classic as well. Now they need to turn The Hobbit into a movie.

An achievement in film. They are long but it takes a lot less time to see all 3 extended version movies than it does to read the books.

Excellent, does a fairly good job of sticking to the books. there should have been 6 movies though...they left a lot out...read the books, they are pretty good.

They're wonderful films. In my top 10 list of best movies. But if you aren't into that kind of movie, they may not be for you.

Outstanding, but the last half hour of Return of the King can be skipped.

I'm fine thank you for asking. Had a bad headache earlier in the week, but I'm feeling much better now.
