my dad works out of town and my bf is going to ask my dad if he can marry me what should i think of this?

Sounds like your bf is trying to be traditional and show respect for your Dad. This is a very old custom and frankly, you should feel honoured he is willing to do so. If it means that he really does need your father's permission to marry you (assuming you want to do this) then both need to enter the 21st century. The actual decision is between you and your boyfriend. I'm going to treat this as though the bf is simply showing his respect to your father and asking for his 'blessing.' Kind of cool in today's world.

I think you should be thankful that your boyfriend has the respect to ask your father prior to asking you. Out of town or in town it is a respect issue - and not many guys would do that these days. You have a good guy on your hands - keep him.
