Like this one that claims that male bisexuals don't exist.

I know penii don't lie and all that, but isn't arousal a matter of taste and not something that will come up, so to speak, for all people or situations? Basically they were in an unsexy laboratory environment watching someone else's choice in movies!

I could probably "prove" that many gay men aren't really gay by inviting them to my house, strapping Jack Johnson to a machine, and showing them a NASCAR race, which, after all, *I* think shows a lot of sexy men in snug fireproof suits.

What do y'all think?

I said NASCAR to prove a point--if I picked the videos, Jack Johnson may not respond to my choices.

On one hand, I think a lot of it is nonsense because men will get an erection from just about anything -- and often what they are looking at has nothing whatsoever to do with sex and sometimes they are not even thinking about sex. Every man has experienced such a thing in his life.

On the other hand, these studies may show a proclivity of men, in general, to be aroused by male stimuli as well as female stimuli. Are a lot of straight guys really bi, deep down inside? Maybe, but they don't always act on their sexual interests outside the heterosexual realm.

I have witnessed sexual arousal tests administered. It is fascinating to see the results. It is really amazing how many men show a reading on underage girls.

The results do not depend on "what gives a man an erection." The results are based on almost imperceptible reactions in the penis based on visual stimulation . Most often these reactions do not result in an erection. I have never seen one of these tests done with erotic movies. These tests aren't done to "prove" anything. They are done to discover "WHAT" turns the testee on. Some of the men who show sexual attraction to other men don't even know it.

I saw a man who claimed to be straight, but had NO reaction to adult females at all... and reacted to adult men and underage males and females. The conclusion of the doctor was that this was basically a pedophile with gay tendencies.

you can strap my jack johnson to a machine in your house, but please, does it have to be NASCAR? could it at least be Changing Spaces?

But seriously, while each study is a compilation of data, I wouldn't put any credence in any single study. When numerous studies point to a single conclusion, then I'd start taking it seriously.

And as a guy, I can tell you first hand, you'd absolutely amazed what can make a penis hard. In my experience, I've concluded that my penis is an explorer and thrill seeker - always looking for some new adventure. Who knows - one day, I might have to look into that NASCAR thing.

That's why those studies are done in Laboratories with controlled conditions, instead of having situational unscientific studies done based only on conjecture and opinion.
While a single study may point in a particular direction, comparison of similar studies(including the methodology of those studies) provides a far better and more reliable indicator toward the answers in a given situation.

I believe there's diffferent kinds of attraction. Visual, meeting of the minds, and emotional. Only the first would register on a penile measuring test. They are limiting their definition of sexual attraction and thus, not suprisingly, they're finding the data does not match what occurs in the field.

Case in point, I have personally experienced being sexually interested in women that were not visually stimulating (ie probably would not show up on a penis test). I knew their personalities and felt a meeting of the minds. They were obese and by no means modelesque. How could they explain that with their silly penile test?

Well as a bisexual g0y I am three times as likely to be discriminated as Gay's are especially in this forum.
You know as well as I do no one wants to admit that bisexuals are real they would rather insult us by saying we are just greedy, untrustworthy or just plain lying. See bigoted judgmental people are not only from the religious right.
Thanks Jayelle for asking this.

People put great stock in these studies because everyone adores an erect p*nis. And they make beautiful music, too -- have you ever heard P*nis Angelicus?
