I've got an interview along with the actual assessment of "Audio Typist" tomorrow.
I've a typing speed of 90wpm, however, that's by READING text as opposed to listening it. Since I never came across the "Audio Typing" before, I wonder just to get used to with the actual concept itself, if there's any website that I could possibly use to practise a little.
I know there are many website that allows you to type by TEXT READING & then tell you your speed along with accuracy, etc. I wonder if there's similar website somewhere that deal with AUDIO allowing you to HEAR & then type & then tell you your speed, accuracy, etc.
This would help me gain little confidence in the job that I'm going to have an interview of.

Get someone to read a book to you whilst you type out the words!
Get out your sony walkman and recite your own text!
It stood me in good stead when I did the same a few years ago!

Its actually very easy, I was a typist only used to copy typing, and applied for a post of audio typist. I actually found it a lot easier that copy typing in the end, and really preferred it. The first time I "audio typed" was at my interview, and I got the job, so I am sure that with your speed of 90 wpm, you will have no problems whatsoever, good luck!

Most companies will use programmes like word, if they use a programme just for them then they will train you to use it, they usually do a speed test and accuracy test, the last company i did audio typing for only wanted a typing speed of 35wpm, i think that this is usually the norm. There are websites on the internet that you can practice on that will tell you how many words per minute you type.

audio typing can be different, you either type from a Dictaphone or through headphones, you could probably start by listening to a tape recording of someone speaking and type, or use a Dictaphone to practise with, things are different now i started when they had the Dictaphone and the secretary had to type from boss's notes and take down shorthand, that's nasty, god i sound old. Good luck

If you have a dictaphone then tape urself reading short stories and then type then up. It should help - i work on the phone and have to listen to people and type what they are talking about - it is not that hard. Good Luck x 1 x

Why not get a friend to talk while you're at the computer. By the way, there are little foot peddles that you use to start and stop the tape, it's really a p*ss easy job. It's what I do in fact.

You will be fine, you will find it much easier.
With regard to the foot pedal, the right button is play, the top button is fast forward (set back from the others) and the left button is rewind. That is a general thing of course, just tell them you have never used a foot pedal like that one!
