Once a week is a good idea. Let some water stand overnight. Then ext day, pour half of the water in the tank and the Betta in a bowl and set it aside. Swirl the tank around to suspend most of the particle and pour it out. Fill the tank halfway and add the Betta and the water back in. Don't worry about leftover particles. Having a tank that is too clean is as bad as having one that is too dirty.

It really depends on what size the tank is, if it has a filter and how much you feed it. I have my betta in a 5.5 gallon tank, no filter and I feed him 4-5 pellets once a day, and I clean the whole tank out every 2 weeks. If your tank is smaller then I would clean it out more often and if it is larger then I would clean it less. If you have a filter then all you would ever have to do is do a water change.

With Beta tanks being so small you must change the water every 3-4 days or your fish will succumbed to its own effluent.Always let the fresh water sit out for a day so the chemicals will evaporate from the fresh supply.Use water conditioner which is available at the pet store specifically for Beta's. Be sure to read the label. ENJOY.

The water needs to be changed every other day. Put some water in a pitcher or small bucket and keep it somewhere next to the tank the night before that way the water will be at room temperature.

I would do it every 2-3 days if it's a small bowl/container, really anything less than 5 gal that isn't filtered, which is usually the case with bettas. I couldn't imagine sitting around in a bowl of potty water for a week, two, or a month.

I do a partial water change once a week. And I completely change the water once a month. However, if your fish tank starts to get smelly in less then a month...then it's time to change the water.

Since, I did not have my beta in tank with filtration, I would change the water once a week. Sometimes I would be lazy and do it every other week. I used stress coat to condition the water and a pinch of aquarium salt for healthy fins and healthy fish.
Good Luck and Take Care

Call a fish store and ask. It varies.
Some will say exchange 25% each week or all of it each week or so.
I had a method of using a tube to siphon out 25% each week, and when the water got yucky and dirty at the bottom, I change it all. I have two vases the same size and would put bottled water in the clean one and set it up. Then I'd slowly drain the dirty one till it was shallow enough to easily scoop him up with my hand. One of mine got used to it and would let me get him easily.
Yes, it's a lot work, but I love all my pets and they are all spoiled. Email me if you have questions about what I've said.

If tank is not big, change twice a month is fine. Big, change 1/3 a week otherwise fish die soon.

If it's in a bowl with no filter, then I'd say once a week.
