My mom is getting married a week from Saturday and she doesn't want to walk down the aisle to "Here comes the bride". Does anyone have any suggestions for alternative songs? Thanks for the help!

What is your Mom's favorite artist or kind of music? When I got married (one week before my 40th birthday, for the first time), I walked in to "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman." It really expressed how I felt since my husband came into my life. Ask your Mom what music reminds her how she feels about the upcoming marriage, her life and how she's feeling at the moment. I don't know how old your Mom is, but "The Very Thought Of You" done by either Nat King Cole or Natalie Cole is a lovely song. Weddings are already burdened with so much "tradition": Whatever she walks down the aisle to, it really should be memorable for her and express how she feels, no matter the music genre or artist. Everytime I hear my song, it gives me goosebumps. Other non-traditional suggestions:

"The Way You Look Tonight"
"Something So Right" by either Paul Simon or Annie Lennox
"At Last" by Etta James
"So Amazing" by Luther Vandross
"Wheels of Life" by Gino Vanelli

It's all about the lyrics for me. Talk to your Mom!

For my walk down the aisle I used "Canon and Gigue for 3 Violins and Continuo in D Major." I just found it on some random classical music CD I got in a store. It was quite lovely and inspiring, but a little different from the "Here Comes the Bride" standard. My bridesmaids walked down during the first part and I followed when the music starts to crescendo. Worked out great!

Congrats and good luck!

Maybe Fur Elise by Beethoven or the Magic Flute by Mozart or Ave Maria? Just try to find something that fits your mom and her intended's personality. When I got married, I walked down the aisle to I Cross My Heart by George Strait. I also think Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World by Brother Iz would be an awesome choice (it plays during the credits of 50 First Dates and is on the soundtrack.) Good Luck!

Pachelbel's Canon in D is really over-used at weddings, so if you really want to do something special you could use Canon in D while the bridesmaids walk up the aisle, but when it's time for your Mom to walk up the aisle, switch to The Prince of Denmark's March (also known as Trumpet Voluntary). Sounds great on the pipe organ, but if you know a good trumpet player it would REALLY sound awesome...

Any of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" would work. "Spring" is the most popular, but my personal favorite is "Winter." Both pieces are beautiful and either one would be a beautiful choice accompany the aisle walk. Also the suggestions for "Canon in D" are great.

How about "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder?

Canon in D is beautiful. I used it for my wedding instead of the wedding march and got lots of compliments on it. It's a very nice song.
