Got a call off a with-held number, and the guy told me to hold the line because he has another call coming, so i held the line and i hear a beeping sounded...beep beep etc continuously - next thing you know, some other guy is saying hello and asking me why I called HIM (which i didnt)
Dont know any of the guys on the phone so i dont know what happened!
And i asked the guy on the phone and he told me that he lives in london but i live in a completely different city! No connection at all...only one guy i know lives in london and he tells me it wasnt him.
And this happened about 4 times connecting with the same guy , first 2 times, i didnt talk, i just hung up.
What was going on??!!
Thing is, im on pay as you go and i didnt even charge ME a penny, nor the guy frm london...and throughout the whole conversation, there was that constant beeping! And the guy on the phone didnt even have a clue either, and he was being polite, not nasty so i cant see how it could have been a wind up.

I had the exact same thing happen, i answered the call - no one spoke but it sounded like someone was walking down a hallway with high heels on for about 10 seconds, i shouted hello again then hung up.
I rung the number back and the exact sound happened with the heels, then after about 10 seconds the phone started ringing and someone answered with "Hello? Hello!"
I explained that i'd just been rung and the lady explained the same thing, i think its some kind of scam, but i'm glad i rang from my works phone lol.

Glad you weren't charged. Sounds like the stuff they do on Radio 1. They connect two people who then get all confused and have an "amusing" conversation, based on misunderstanding which, if sufficiently "amusing" is broadcast over the air for the amusement of (not very bright) Radio 1 listeners. Your conversation may not have been "amusing" enough to qualify. Probably some guy who's worked out how to do this amusing himself/his mates. In which case, nothing really malicious intended. If it was a scam to build up your phone bill, sounds like it didn't work. Be grateful for that at least!

Sounds to me like the guy who called you first was winding 2 strangers up by putting you on comference call with eachother via his phone.
Basically he's called you, put you on hold and then dialed the other guy. He then connects the comference call so you can all speak to eachother but puts his phone on mute so he can hear you 2 talking but you cannot hear him.
Maybe he was hoping you 2 would hit it off and start flirting with each other and maybe things get a bit hotter between you ( or him have a go at you for bothering him).

sounds to me like some lines were crossed....seems bizarre I know but last year I kept getting calls for a dental clinic at my office, I happen to have noticed that down this major street there was a hell of a lot of street work going on......the phone company corrected it after two days but everyone in 4 square miles kept getting the wrong number when they knew they had dialed correctly....sounds like the same type of issue, but more on an international opertator level........there was probably someone trying to place a call to another party that was very frustrated!

I answered your other question but heres more on it.
It was a threeway call so whoever did the dialing ( not you ) is paying for it and chances are he was still on the line when you were talking to the guy in london...he just wasn't talking.

Well - I could call you and forward your call to any number on this planet. Someone was making fun of you and the other guy. I bet they were listening to your conversation and afterwards had a great laugh!

Scott Mills does this on radio one all the time. Phones up two take aways and gets them to order food of each other, all you need is two phones, phone two people and put the receivers ear piece to mouth piece and there you have it...bit pointless really!

The guy did a conference call. I hate them, because you always end up arguing to some guy you don't even know, while a sick little pervert is listening to it!!!
