They both have their good qualities. A good example is mixing them both for advantage like in 'Sin City'. When you see something black and white you also take it with a more documentary feeling but colour can be used (the little girl in the red coat in that war movie).
It's a shame that people don't tend to watch B&W so much because theirs some great atmashpheric movies filmed in it.
Advantages in colour are more obvious.

I'd have to say color BUT some of the prettiest pictures I've seen taken have been taken with a black and white film.
