I am tired of my current city and decided to move. My company has an office in the city where I'm moving to, so I kind of gave them an ultimatum: I moving and I can stay with your company...or leave. (I was nice about it of course). They graciously offered to let me work in the office of my new city. But since I told them that I was moving, I'm paying for all expenses. The cost of living is lower in my new city, so I doubt that they'll give me a cost of living increase. But should I ask for something extra?? I'm really only getting a job out of the deal, which I appreciate a lot :-)

Generally, the company will only offer relocation compensation if you were recruited for a position. It sounds like you recruited yourself.

In addition, you have saved yourself COBRA expense by staying with the same company.

You are getting the chance to relocate somewhere you want and have the security of knowing you have a job. If you want more money or something else that your current employer is not offering, look for another job once you are moved. If you find something better and are offered a job, use that job offer to ask for more with your current employer.

The opportunity to move somewhere you like and have a lower cost of living sounds you are getting a great deal. The lower cost of living will be somewhat like getting a raise. In addition, being happier (assuming you will be since it is somewhere you are choosing to live) is priceless.
