If you converting from cubic inches to cubic meters. Do you charge the answer you got for cubic inches into cubic meters? or Do you have to actually charge all the data you used to calalulate inches into meters. Then calaluated into cubic meters?

It is the same if you are converting each or the answer, it depends on your skills and factors of conversion you know, but change the answer is better, in order to minimize the steps of solution and lowering the errors .

If you have the conversion factor for cubic inches to cubic meters then you don't need to go through all that mess.
1 cubic meters is equal to 61,023.74 cubic inches

in^3 x (meter/39.37 in)^3 converts into cubic meters

alternatively


in^3 x (ft/12 in)^3 x (meter/3.28 feet)^3 also converts into cubic meters

IF you convert the numbers before or after you calculate, should make no difference. I would do it both ways, just to make sure it's right. Especially if it's for something important.

The basic conversion factor
1 inch=2.54 cm=2.54/100 met=.0254met
1inch^3=.0254^3 met^3=.00001638 met^3
