I am getting so many conflicting answers about this. some people say yes it does stop an egg from producing some people say no that when you are on the pill it still produces an egg. Which one is true. And if it is true that the pill stops you from producing an egg where does the blood come from when you have a 7 day break form taking the pill.

In a natural monthly cycle (not on the pill), the ovaries are prompted by hormones to release an egg; the womb builds up a lining to receive the egg in case it gets fertilised. If the egg is not fertilised, the womb lining breaks down, causing a period.

If you are on the pill, the pill generates artificial hormones making the body think a fertilised egg has already been planted. So no new egg is released, but the womb lining still builds up. When the hormone levels from the pill drop off, the womb lining breaks down, causing a period.

Hi it depends on what pill you are on i was on the combined pill at first and the combined pill shuts down your ovays so they dont produce eggs and also thicken the mucus. When you have a bleed it isnt your period its just because you havent taken you pill i dont really know why. But on the POP ( progestrone only pill ) I think these fool you body like the combined pill to think its preganant so your body doesnt produce an egg at the time of the month, it doesnt shut them down though. But the POP thickens the Mucus as well but more than the combiined pill to stop the sperm getting through. On the POP you dont have a 7 day break you take it continously so you may not have a bleed but it isnt harmful. If you are on a pill that you have a 7 day bleed ,the pill shuts the ovarys down so they dont produce an egg, it sort of puts them asleep.

The blood comes from the lining that your womb builds up to maintain a pregnancy, when you pass an egg every month this does not cause bleeding, it comes away as a white discharge. There are many different types of pill and some of them (like the progesterone only one) do stop an egg being released, check this with ur doctor to see which one you are more comfortable with xxx

The Pill contains hormones that suppress ovulation. During ovulation an egg is released from the ovaries, without ovulation there is no egg to be fertilised and pregnancy cannot occur.

The last few pills in the pack are non-hormonal pills causing the uterus walls to thicken and then shed as if you were having a period. (this is your withdrawal bleed).

Seriously... if you are taking the pill you should know all of this.... ignorance is not bliss!

I was told that the pill stops the womb lining from being thick enough for an egg to stick to it, and be fertilised as such.
So eggs are produced, but just come straight out fertilised or not.

yes you still produce an egg, but you dont drop the egg into your uterus. the pill tricks your body into thinking that you are pregnant. but your uterus knows that its not, and it sheds its lining to be renewed for the next month. theres your blood. but yeah women, unlike men, are born with all the eggs that they will have for the rest of their lives. men produce new sperm all the time. but the egg that is supposed to be dropped, just absorbes out to the body like waste and is gone, but the pill is not 100 percent, because i got pregnant on the pill and i took it religiously. hope that helped a little

Yes or no I am really not sure, but one thing I know is that most my friends after taking those pill they have problem conceiving. If you have yet any kids I suggest you thing twice about taking those pills. Woman should have baby early, good for both baby and mother. After if you have enough children, try IUD. I have that for the past 13 years and never have any problem at all. No pill, no need to worry about forgetting to take them.

It simply takes away the magnetic pull, so that the egg and the sperm don't fuze together!,

you should probably read the instruction leaflet that is in the packet, it should explain everything...including that long list of possible side-effects. hmmm. (plus how do you know you wont suffer consequences in ten years time?)
