I know some artists/actors really cannot go to award shows because they are busy with new projects and whatnot, but the ones who aren't busy with anything, and organisers aren't sure if they are actually going to turn up shouldn't recieve anyting.

I see your point but the awards are based on merit not attendance.

Totally. To not bother showing up to accept something that people have been nice enough to award to them is the rudest thing ever and it would be good if the prizes could always go to people who attend.

I suppose there's not a lot the organisers can do if their name is read out and they're not there but winning an award is supposed to be an honour so unless the artist is really busy with something else or can't go for a paticularly good reason, it's a bit out of order not to show some gratitude.

Interesting, how could you do that, what if an actors daughter is sick, is an award more important than the star holding their sick child, awards are really for the fans anyhow so if a lot of people vote for a star that doesnt turn up, so what ? will the world stop

not thinking about beyonce are you? I think you have a point esp if the award is voted for by fans. However some people can genuinely have a reason not to attend and the press can be very good at stirring things like that.

Just think through your question again - how do we know that these people are not going to turn up when the identity of the winners is unknown until the award ceremony????

the award should go to the best, whether they want to turn up or not. If they were removed from the chance then the award is devalued.

Yeah! How annoying is it, when they accept by video or through someone else. Only those who have passed should have this honor.I guess this is why they are famous! Frustrating!

If they are not there to accept it should go to the next in line.
