i would guess it means you just wish the day was over and by the time it IS over everything bad has already happened and there's no point in living another day.

Too many people are impatient for what they consider the 'good things' in life. It's always 'tomorrow' I'll have this, or 'tomorrow' I'll be able to do that.
But by the time 'tomorrow' actually comes, you are either beyond the point of being able to enjoy what you previously wanted, or have moved on to wanting something else.

Lesson here is...If you want something, work hard to get it soon or learn to be happy with what you've got.
