It basically comes down to this: white people (being the dominant force in this country - how they came to get there could be considered evil) are going to do all they can to stay in power. Seriously, if you were in power, you would do all you can to stay there. Of course, they aren't dumb. That's why they created the "myth of meritocracy" and convinced everyone else to believe in it. Then they flood our minds with worthless culture like MTV and Survivor and our poor neighborhoods with drugs...so that when people of color inevitably fail, it's their own fault. It's really an insidious system, but as I said earlier, white people are not stupid.
Another thing to ponder: many college admits to top flight ivy league schools are "legacy admits"...as in their parents went there or they donate huge sums to the school. This also includes other famous private schools like Duke, Notre Dame and Stanford. What better way to maintain the power hegemony than for the kids of rich white people to go to school with each other and join fraternities and sororities and what not...

I agree that public education sucks. It is all about getting the children to pass standardized tests instead of actually learning anything. But if 95% of all white middle class children go to private schools, who the hell is sitting in all these public school classrooms?

Yes true because what white parent in their right mind wants to send their kids to a school full of minorities?

Wow! Marxist "conflict theory" at work to explain why "Johnny Can't Read". Tip o' the hat to you my friend. Yahoo Answers just went up a notch on the intellectometer. Course that is saying very little.

In fact it is the Liberal agenda in schools that's dumbing down America. Teachers are HUGELY overpaid and few are worthy of the profession.
Conservatives on the otherhand push for school choice for ALL socio-economic groups.

And your use of "there" instead of "their"........is because of your education being sub-standard?
