We are going to be sending out postcards with the U.S. Postal Service to try and generate new customers.

Does anyone know which day of the week is the best day to send advertising pieces, or on which day the Postal Service delivers the fewest pieces of mail?

I would suggest Tuesday or Wednesday. Tuesday is traditionally the lightest day, of which some magazine mailers are now taking advantage. Monday is a terrible day if the route has any businesses as all the mail for the businesses closed Saturday has to go on Monday. Thursday is very hard to predict and you may want to talk to your local USPS reps. to estimate the value. Friday and Saturday are a problem unless you're going to have your flyer ride along in the Advo co's full coverage flyer or one of the other local flyers.

Mail your advertising on a Monday. This way it will be processed and ready for delivery on either Wednesday or Thursday. The 2 middle days of the delivery week (there are 6, Mon-Sat) are best for delivering a mass advertisment. The heaviest days for delivery for me are Mondays and Saturdays. Also make sure your mailing is properly addressed. That is the #1 key. Address them properly.
