It is a money thing, you will oviously find a better car anywhere you go ,but it all boils down to you and how well you know to take care of what you have ,I have been an auto technican for 15 years and the key to having a good car is knowing when and what to do when the time comes for the maintainence, the most common defect in car ownership these days is ignorance and neglect, some people would buy a new investment and never read the instruction manual or the maintainence schedule but we feed ourselves every day even go for a regular checkup ,but it eludes us that these auto were made off the same principles as our bodies, the key is maintainence, recently there is a war in the technology industry between domestic and imports ,I am personally impressed with the innovations that the domestic industry have made over the years to try to recapture the market lead in sales ,people fail to realize that it was the technology that was given as a tool for rebuilding the asian world by the USA after hiroshima, that import technology could be where it,s at today, and meanwhile we scoff at our own country,s strides to do better becomes a machine for propaganda in the world market, it is bigger than just buying a mustang, you are also supporting a national value, when this country was at war four decades ago ,we ate local ,lived local and loved local,it is time that we as americans get the bigger picture as to the power of our financial resources, thats my take,do your math, and enjoy, delmy d

I have owned 3 1/2 Mustangs (1/2 with an ex) and all have been great, fun & reliable cars. I wish I had one now! They are fun, fast, and not as expensive as many other sports cars. I highly recommend a convertible. The only drawbacks: the V8 ones aren't gas sippers (of course) & rear wheel drive sucks in snow (if you get that where you are). But: the new ones are getting more fuel efficent, they have a better front/rear weight balance than previous models, and have a better traction control system.
The people that have problems are the ones that hop them up - anytime you add performance modifications, you generally risk some reliabilty. They are strong enough without the mods - all I reccomend is an after-factory exhaust on the V8's to enhance that sweet rumble. Hope this helps!

mustangs used to be good cars but somewhere along the line they got their weeners chopped off and now all they do is suck, i have 3 buddies that have a '00, a 03', & a brand new 06' mustang GT, and another buddy of mine has a 02 Camaro SS and i have a 01 Trans Am. Now when ever we race (at the track) me and the camaro smoke the mustangs like a joint on christmas eve. Plus for the past 2 years at least one of their cars has broken down once every three months. Besides everyone has a mustange, start a new trend and go for the F-body.

Its a bad idea if your the one paying for the mustang's insurance.
The insurance rates are up they got alittle down but the rates are still hi. Could be pretty expensive if your a female under 21 with no history of insurance or a male under 25 with no history of insurance. If you are older than this ages then you would have no problem as long as you keep an eye on it. ( it could get stolen) If you do get this car I highly recommend getting lojack (a small chip ) for the car to be located when ever its stolen. This chip costs about $200 to install and it gives you a discount on insurance too. But other than that its a great car.

While it's hard to tell if this is because of build quality, owners taking care of them, or just Ford sold a lot of them, they're one of the most common cars from the '80s where I live. Sure, they aren't the most fuel efficient cars, but they do seem to last fairly well.

They are just like any other car, if you take care of them and do the necessary maintenance they will last. But I don't think with the uncertainty of Ford Motor Company I would consider one at this time. Wait to see if they pull through. It would be bad to buy something that you can't get service or parts for.
