Here is a link to a sad story from the annals of nearly forgotten American history. It is about an event that took place a century ago that truly strains credibility. And yet it happened. In 1904 a group of Congolese pygmies were brought to the United States and placed on display as exhibits at the St. Louis World's Fair. Subsequently, in 1906, one of these pygmies went on display in a cage in the Monkey House.of the Bronx Zoo. This sparked a furor and protests by a group of African-American ministers soon put an end to it but not before the new exhibit attracted hordes of visitors who appeared more interested in viewing the poor pygmy than his monkey companions. Do you suppose our hypothetical forlorn E.T. could suffer some similar fate today or have we as a society evolved beyond such behavior? The secret to E.T. survival is to find a sympathetic earth child to take care of it and hide it from the government and their parents. This is taught in all the E.T survival guides.

Hopefully we've advanced some since the early 1900's, but I'm sure there are still people around who would want to put an alien life form in a zoo.

Depending upon whom made the discovery of said alien, the poor visitor would be either taken in and safely looked after(like the one that lives here with me), or if the U.S. government discovered him, he would be ushered away to area 51(and dissected)on the hush hush, with stories of downed weather balloons. Just like his predecessors in 1947.

E.T. was just lucky when he hooked up with the kid. Today any guest of the "alien" kind would be sliced, diced, and placed under microscopes and we the people would be none the wiser.
