With alll this hoopla in the news about Spain banning excessively thin runway models, I have to think we have better things to focus our attention on. It seems so superficial to me. Sadly, many women try to emulate these "stick figures" often times sacrificing their health in the process. Women of all shapes and sizes are beautiful. If someone is focusing on a person's appearance rather than the type of person they are, then that person will one day wake up to a sad reality... AGE. Appearances change, but the good inside a person will stand tall and remain with them forever. The majority of people are not stick figures. Clothes, and the resulting fashion shows, should be designed for people with body types that reflect that of the majority, not size 0000 models that represent such a small percentage of the worlds population. Other than that, I really don't care. What do you think?

Right on!! I wish more people would realize that what you are saying is true. Especially in America these days. Most of our population is not only not that size 0000 but most of them (myself included) are overweight. It would be nice to see a popular model who is something more than a bag of bones.

They want to ban them because they can break easily should one trip or fall, the liability insurance would go through the roof on claims of injury.

Also, these "stick chicks" could are a potential hazard to passersby on the street, since males are instinctively distracted when operating a vehicle, these females pose a traffic hazard.

cheers

the media cares. thats why everyone else does. if they werent plastered all over the magazines noone would try to emulate that figure. its weird. i think i have a good head on my shoulders but when i get sucked into one of the magazines like us weekly or people i start to think of how to lose even just 5 pounds to look 'better' how horrible!

I think models should be a range of healthy weights. from the lighter end to the heavier end of healthy.
