Because the cheater realizes that they are getting away with this behavior, and it's just as easy for the other person to get away with it too.

That's why when a person freaks out and gets overly protective of their spouse, the spouse in turn realizing their partner may be cheating -- because it just doesn't make sense. It's sad really - and answerer #1 is dead on right -- the cheater realizes just how easy it is to get away with it, and panics because they might not be the only one having their "fun." It's a vicious circle, but remember, karma always comes around and it's one tough pill to swallow.

It's called lack of selfesteem. Once a person is cheated on, their obsession becomes almost unbearable. Of course it's going to happen. Their constanting thinking what have I done to be cheated on, how do I stop it, is he/she out there doing it again sence their late for dinner? It can drive a person nuts, because it HURTS!!
Trust issues have to be addressed, and built back up.
Counseling is required also so the person can learn ways to find their ego's are back in tact.

Yep, cheaters never really do prosper and that's the fact. So if a little paranoid feelings accompany this action then that's the price one has to pay. Realizing that cheating isn't right is probably bothering the person and also realizing how easy it is could be the trigger to their suspicision.

They see how easily they found the person they are cheating with that they, think their partner could just as easily do the same thing. It is funny why they would care if their partner is cheating since they are doing it anyway. Men are territorial!!! They like to cheat but don't want their woman to cheat.

It's called guilt the cheaters game that they play on themselves, it is in a sort of karmic way of guilt getting back at themsleves for doing it in the first palce also in letting their partner know the truth with out having to come right out and fessing up.

They realize they are a lousy person and are totally in the wrong. The only hope they have of justifying what they did is catch the other one of doing the same thing,

I call it Cheater's guilt
They subconsciencly want to be cheated on so they feel even therefore less guilty
They feel you'll cheat or are cheating because they did it to you so why would you not and could not cheat on them?
