If you really want to there are a few things you NEED TO DO First!

And Porn sites are NOT the only sites with loads of Malware. Some of the worst are game, screensavers, smillies, and other so-called "fun" sites. It's like a pervert with a bag of candy in the park, people flock to thoes sites like an innocent kid to the pervert in the park!!!! There are many good and safe sites, but there are also MANY that are just BAD!

First thing to do....
1. Is having good safety software in place. I will give a list of what I use later.

2. Use MSN to search for the site, or if you know the address of the site enter it in a MSN search and see if its safe.
I say MSN because for the past year they have REMOVED any malware infested sites from there search engine. The Malware site still exists on the web but NOT in there search results. Google has just started doing something like this but they only give a warning and still allow you to go to the bad site. Yahoo, as of this writing give you NO WARNING at all!

Even using all these precautions you can still be infected. The best prevention and protection your computer can have is YOU practicing safe computing.

Something else to do is have all your important data BACKED UP, which you should have been doing anyway!!!!!!

and now what I use for protection.

I use all of the following Free software with Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar and the pop-up blocker turned on and have never had a single problem with my computer sense Microsoft came out with SP2. (knock on wood.) (And be sure to keep Windows and the following software Updated)

The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)http://www.grisoft.com/doc/289/lng/us/tpl/tpl01

The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html)<--English version

AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.

These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

Get a pop-up blocker, like google. You need Ad Aware or Ad Easy type of software. A good firewall. Also, if you subscribe to a decent adult website instead of trying to get your porn for free you won't have those problems.

Don't open any files that have .exe, .vbs, .scr, or .bat extensions. They sometimes can be viruses. (Good tip for email attachments too)
