Is "A bird in the hand worth two in the bush" over simplifying the meaning of this?
Or am I totally off the mark?

Caring too much about the details makes you lose the big picture.
I think they are all pretty much the same.

Don't lose what you have by grasping for the bigger thing you don't yet have.
Reminds me of Clerks 2 (an odd place to get philosophy). Randall nearly loses friends and hometown chasing after a rich girl and her dreams. Turns out happiness can be found running a convenience store...at least in the movies.
