If the question is regarding to WHO (what type of person) uses a MAC or PC, it is quite simple... There are three reasons that might make you choose between a PC platform or MAC:
1) Honour: This one is tough... you might just HATE Microsoft, and therefore you would buy a system that just about hates them as much as you do. It all goes back to the time little Billy double-crossed Stevie. Old story. Watch the movie "Pirates of the Silicon Valley" to get the picture.
2) Your job, or your hobby: That's quite easy, since you may notice that 90% of the media professionals use MAC just because it is much more graphics-oriented and hard-wired to the Operational System than any PC you'd find in the high street
3) You have a highly abstract mind: That one is tricky, but the bottom line is that if you're into art, you'll just go for the most aesthetic piece of machinery you can get your hands on (or afford!). MACs are sublime when it comes to aesthetics, and people that love it go for them... it's proven!
When it comes to PCs, people that buy them not necessarily LOVE MS, but they tend to go for something upgradeable, with loads of compatible applications and on top of that, price...
Hope I got it right!

I switched to Mac OS X around three years ago and now use an iMac G5 and it's simply the best computer I have ever owned. I remember when I switched I was initially concerned that the software options for the Macintosh would be somewhat limited in comparison to what I was used to using Windows but to be completely honest whist I found there is indeed less options there the software that is available is of outstanding quality.
But Macs aren't for everyone so if you are planning on making the switch you ought to think about what it is you use your existing machine for and then explore the software options on the Macintosh platform before making the switch.

PC, mainly because it was what I was raised using. I like the look and performance of Macs better, though. At this point, it's too much work to switch! =(

I've used both, equally well I might add. I'ved used Windows 3.1, 95, 98, 98SE, ME, XP, and Mac OS 7.5.5-9.
As for the hardware, it doesn't matter as when people talk about PCs and MACs they usually refer to the software anyway.

PC, because it does what I need it to do, whereas a Mac would not.
