Peeling sprouts in a sprout factory. Imagine peeling sprouts, hour after hour, day after day, week after week.....
Seriously, stuffing envelopes was a dream ticket compared to full-time sprout peeling....! At least with envelope stuffing you could switch off. It's hard to switch off with sprout peeling, you have to concentrate on what you're doing otherwise you cut your fingers to ribbons.
My job in a strawberry punnet factory was pretty bad also - picking the freshly moulded plastic punnets up after the machine spat them out, stacking them, and putting them in boxes.
But the sprout-peeling gig was definitely the worst. I don't even like the damn things either.

I worked as a contract claims adjuster for an auto insurance company that refused to pay for just about anything. People yelled and screamed at me all day, and I had to take it. The money was good, but the abuse was too much and I quit after 6 months. No job is worth going home with a headache every day.

Chambermaid.
It was 10 years ago, I just arrived in London and I just wanted to work to pay my rent.
It was not a easy job but then I was happy to have somewhere to start.
Since then, I did different jobs climbing the social ladder, and since 6 years I run my own business in IT consultancy.
So all work experience is good in life, even the least appealing because when things get better you are very appreciative of what you have.

working in a deli in harris teeter, it was a part time job for me so the women who worked there would always make me close and do the hard stuff like cleaning the meat and cheese cutters, mopping the floor, it was horrible, i only lasted 3 months, i also had a check cashing job where i had to work behind bullet proof glass, it was like a little hut with no windows and everybody who worked there smoked, so i went home smelling like smoke everyday, my boss was SO mean, and the place was nasty and a mess, now i work at a beautiful upscale real estate office that sells property for a private island off the coast of South Carolina, my boss and co-workers are fantastic! i think you have to get through the bad jobs and know your worth to get to the good ones!

Worked as an assistant for a woman who had an in-home daycare. She was horrible. When I asked for a raise, she gave it to me but cut my hours so that I ended up making less than before. She asked me to hand-wash her kitchen carpet. When looking for my next job, she told the people untrue bad things about me when giving a reference. I found out that she had her license revoked eventually. (I had nothing to do with it. I just heard about it. Don't know the details.)

Working at Tesco. It is unbelievable how rude and offensive the customers are to you.
Never mind national service - everyone should do a stint on a shop floor.
