I think the figure is 100 deaths per day, from sectarian violence. But what about "combat operations" which is a separate figure. I am sure there are other war related deaths not covered by stated statistics.

As to Saddam's murderous reign, the figures are higher. It retrospect, it seems odd that the west would have cobbled together a country with such a diverse citizenry -- sects with no mutual affinity. No wonder it only worked with the iron hand of a tyrant before. What makes us so imperious to think we know what will work for peoples we know so little about?

Though I don't have hard numbers. The Iraqis I've talked to say Saddam killed more people than any dictator living today.

Ya But it's for their own good. Don't know exact figures, but it seems Saddam would have had to gas 25 more location to equal all the collateral damage that has happened, and will continue to happen till they get their minds correct.

This question is the way to go. To date I hae worked out that on average a daily death rate of 60 yes 60, people are killed every day. Now multiply that by 365... These are just the ones we know off.. Let alone all that die through disease, through the lawlessness that exist... the war.... The list goes on. Mind you they can vote...
