I have the Barn and am into summer in the game and do not have it yet.

all you need to have done is shipped 1000 items. they don't have to be vegetables, they can include colored grass, flowers, copper/silver/gold/mithril ores, berries, doesn't matter

after you've shipped 1000 items, the next morning, takahara or whatever his name is, will come by saying that this horse wandered onto the farm, and will ask if you want it
