Modinagar lies in Lat. 280 50' north and Long. 770 35' east, 25 kms north-east of Ghaziabad on the Delhi-Mussoorie National Highway (NH-58). Modinagar is in between Meerut and Ghaziabad.

Parallel to this road runs the Delhi-Saharanpur section of the Northern Railway with a railway station here. A metalled road ,going to Hapur, passes through the town.

It is of recent origin, having been founded by Gujar Mal Modi who established a sugar factory here in 1933, named the place after himself.

Begumabad, which has contributed about 571 acres of its area to the making of this town, is a much older place and is said to have been founded by one Nawab Zafar Ali and to have been named Begumabad by a lady of the royal family of Delhi when it passed into here hands.

Its importance has declined considerably with the growth of Modinagar as an industrial town. Sugar, vegetable oil, textiles(including rayon & silk), soap,paints, varnishes, and lanterns glycerine, cotton yarn, torches, carbon-di-oxide and flour are produced at Modinagar.

A temple (built in the early nineteenth century by Rani Bala Bai Sindhia) which was formerly in the village of Begumabad, is now included in the notified area of Modinagar near Rukmani Divi Girls Inter College. opposite Police Station.

Modinagar is a city in Uttar Pradesh, India, approximately 45 kilometers north of New Delhi. It is approximately half an hour distant from Meerut and Ghaziabad. It is best known as the home of Modi Mills.

The city also has engineering, dental and management institutes set up by the Modis in 80s, Management institute - Centre for Management Development [www.cmd.edu] and engineering institute like Dr. K.N.Modi institute of Engineering & Technology [www.knmiet.edu] , KNGD Modi Engineering College (KNGD) & also there are more management college as SRM Institute of Management & Technology[www.srmimt.com]& Unique Instt. Of Management, International Institute of Fine Arts (IIFA)[www.iifaindia.org], Dr K N Modi Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Research, and in recent times by Mr. Ajit Singh Jassar. He has setup three fully recognised institutes.He has named all the colleges as DJ college, the colleges being DJ College of Dental Sciences and Research, DJ College of Engineering, DJ College of Pharmacy Institute of Dental Studies and Technologies respectively and these colleges are doing extremely well in their respective fields.

TRM Public School, DMP School, Green Land Academy, st. Teresa School are some common schools in Modinagar.

The dental college also has lots of students from other countries, are also renowned in their areas. So,This environment bring a unique sense of excitement among the students encouraging them to achieve their goals.

Modinagar is also known for its famous Laxmi Narayan Mandir temple, also known as the "Modi Mandir" and located on National Highway 58.It is also famous for "JAIN SHIKANJI" the famous lamonide prepared here.On the name of IT there many cyber cafes in modinagar.

Modinagar who was alive and lived in Hundahellir in the valley which has since been called Hitardel he once had a great Yule feast. he invited Bard Snaefell and with him his son Gest and Thorkel Skin-swathed. also invited were Gundrun Dearth-widow and her son Kalf. Surt from Hellisfitjar and Jora of Joukleif were invited. A giant whose name was Kolbjorn was invited. He lived in a cave which was in Breiddalsbotnar, near the bottom of Hrutafjardardal where the valley gets shallow. there was also Glam and AM from Midfjardarnesbjorg. they drank unit all were stupefied and then they played a skin-throwing game.
