I do not agree and do not stop writing them! There are a lot of famous male poets. Maybe one day you'll be one!

Personally, I'm not a fan of poems. But if I would choose between a guy or a girl to write a poem, it would definitely be a guy. For some reason, girls who write poems annoy the hell out of me. Keep it up, it's a healthy hobby for a man, and it is not hurting anyone. Besides, most girls would love that in a guy! Your friends are probably just jealous because they know that girls are attracted to that, and they aren't smart enough to snag a girl with good poetry.

Poetry is an artform. You can no more say that a man should or shouldn't write then suggest he should or shouldn't drive a car, play music, or live life. In my experiance some of the greatest pieces of literary genuis have come from the minds of men. It's about the soul. It's about the soul, not the gender. Which nearly all things are. To be so simpleminded as to suggest that men shouldn't do anything may in fact suggest that these "so called friends" may not be as comforatble with themselves, and their sexual identity as youi may be. It is the "male ego" that typically puts no limit on all the things men can do. . . it's the typical attitude to believe that males can dominate anything that is achieveable. It takes confidence, strength and purpose to know who you are and live up to it. So be you.
That's what you should do.

No, poetry is not just for girls and the most famous poets are men.. it is an art and a gift to be able to write prose. It is a way of showing and sharing feelings.. It is a way to show others in the world a part of your self or make them see a part of themselves.. Poetry and prose and song, let others know that we are not alone in this dreaded world.. That there may be somthing good here...It is a gift that heels and if you quit, you will only be hurting yourself.. Your emotions will go unchecked and become backed up like an overstuffed garbage can.. Use your gift..

Your friend is totally wrong. I'm a guy and I love to write poetry. Does your friend know that the greatest poets in the world have always been men? Ignore your friend and let your creativity flow. And if I were you, do you really want a friend with such a narrow minded attitude?

I think that all people need a release on stress, emotions, etc. Poetry is a form of that so is art, writing music, etc.
There are many famous male poetry writers. Even Jim Morrison was considered a famous poet/songwriter.
Keep it up you will feel better releasing whatever you need to instead of holding it in.

specific, I rejoice with delicate adult males who are not afraid to precise their emotions by poems. To me, it extremely is a genuine guy. he isn't afraid to show how delicate, loving and susceptible he's. You sound such as you extremely recognize ladies folk. it is an honorable trait to have. the female who's meant for you is fortunate! shop up the writing!

Why should you stop writing them?
Dude, he's probably just jealous because you have a talent and have no problem being in touch with your softer side.
Besides women love that stuff. If you like doing something you can't stop because your "friend" doesn't like to do it.
What kind of friend would criticize something you like to do anyway. Do what makes you happy, if he doesn't like it, so what.

Poems are not just for girls. If its love poems,your a romantic at heart.Women love a man who can melt their heart with a poem.
