Shikar: take the word 'plays' and 'played': the first suggests that he currently does so, that is, this summer. The second suggests that he played it in the past. 'Last summer he played tennis once or twice a week but this summer he plays tennis just as often'.... I hope that makes sense.

It depends on the work-outs. When you say everyone muscle, are you talking about muscle group or every actual muscle? Doing squats and leg presses won't do much to actually isolate and work-out every muscle in your legs. However, doing Squats, Leg Press, Lunges, Calf Raises, qaud and hamstring pulls would be a good start. What is progress? If you haven't waited six months, then wait till six months has passes and then ask the question. Working every muscle 2-3 times a week will get you the best results. Unless you are doing some other muscle intensive activity, such as boxing, karate, football, basketball, etc., then just 2 times a week should be enough. If you are looking to actually change your appearance, then you need to understand that their is weight lifting to actually be stronger and weight lifting that is purely for body building (muscle modeling). Bruce Lee was about 5'7 and weighed about 130 lbs. But he was strong and fit. He was about getting results. Compare that to some fake TV wrestler who is bulging and decide which direction you wanna go in. Lastly, how is your diet?

The past tense would be correct if John stopped playing any tennis at all, or if he suddently began to play tennis three or more times each week.
