-Looking forward to 2008?
Not really, *LOL* I'll be two years older.
-it will be my first voting opportunity for the president.
Congratulations. No matter whether or not your choice wins deal with it. There are people who are still complaining because their candidate lost in 2000. They say the other guys cheated and refuse to admit they just plain lost. Contact me if you want the specifics.
-Who would you like to see be the next president?
A moderate from either party will be fine with me. *BG* Haven't had the problem of having to make the choice between two moderates in a long time. It might be nice.
-What kinds of things would you like to see them do while in office?
Leave the economy alone, don't try and get new taxes approved, and quit telling me what I have to accept. And how about limiting the amount Government spends to only 90% of what tax income was the year before. We're up to almost 3 trillion dollars a year in US Government spending and there's a deficit? What's wrong with this picture?
-Do you think they will be able to repair relationships with the countries that seem to hate us now?
Most of the hatred isn't really coming from countries but from groups within middle eastern countries. And they hated us long before Bush and there's probably nothing short of the US nuking Israel that would put us back in their good graces.

I remember the first time I was old enough to vote! Good for you to do it (it's how our politics are supposed to work).
I would like to see Bill Frist in 2008, but any conservative republican with common sense is fine.
I would like to see the next president make social security need-based (I know sounds socialistic--but I am a Gen-xer who pays 15.5% to an "entitlement" the Boomers will dry up). I would also like to see a permanent fix to the tax problem, like maybe a National Sales Tax (I know--try to be serious about disbanding the IRS). I would also like to see the ACLU do something helpful besides polluting the minds of the next generation.
I don't think the US policy should be governed by what other countries think of us. If we keep sending them money, they'll stay within acceptable boundaries of PR.
Fair question. Invites civilized response. Thanks.

Yes and no. I would like to see an American represent us in the high office. I would like to see him/her try to work towards peace through peaceful means. and to the last....I believe it will take more than one presidential term to repair the damage caused by our current presidents tenure, but it will be a good start maybe. Remember, history shows that sometimes only a few months in office can change the whole world's outlook on a country.

Young people tend to vote Democrat, mostly because what they have heard in school comes from liberal teachers. Public high schools, with liberal, unionized teachers produce Democrat and even socialist young voters. Private schools, particularly those with greater emphasis on religion and morals, tend to produce Republican voters. Also, many people, after they complete high school and college, gain knowledge and experience from a broader spectrum of information sources, and further develop their OWN moral standards, tend to become more conservative.
I hope and trust that you will respect and properly use your voting rights. They were gained for you and are protected for you by the blood of our ancestors and our fighting men and women today. Don't let them down. Don't let Hollywood tell you how to vote.

The best man for the job is Newt Gingrich. He's optimistic, and get this, he has ideas. A politician who actually has ideas! Not just ideas like, stop the other party's agenda. Real ideas. I do think he'll help our relationship with other countries. You should read his books To Renew America and Winning The Future.

The anticipation is great. My worry is that with all the stolen votes in the past the GOP hasn't got something up their sleeves which will make your vote worthless.
Good luck with your voting career. It is imperative that you vote at every opportunity otherwise you do not have a voice.
Edit: Please do not listen to him above me. It is his kind of American that means we can only travel the world dressed as Canadians. Be a proud American but a courteous, smart American. The world doesn't end at our shores.

They have always hated us for one reason or another. Jealousy of our life style for one.
Any good Republican for president except McCain.
