I did hear about this and it made my blood run cold. My son was born in that hospital in March. Everything I have read says it was a tragic accident. Apparently the packaging for the adult and child dosage looks very similar.

I assume there will be a monetary settlement, which will be kept confidential. This settlement will keep any potential negligence charges out of court. I am sure all involved feel horrible, but I do not think there will be criminal charges against any individuals because it was a mistake.

Let me just add that my wife and I (my son too if he could say so) were very pleased with the care provided by this hospital. Nothing but positives as far as we are concerned.

Yes, it was admitted negligence on behalf of the hospital's pharmacy tech. The drug company may also have culpability because the packaging was not distiguishably different between infant's and adult's doses. Very very sad. But the hospital is stepping up to the plate, admitting before they even had to, vowing to make reparations to the families. What more can they do? They feel terrible. We will probably never know the amounts of the settlements. They are usually confidential. I'm sure it will be in the seven figures for each family. There should be no "punishment" where there was no willful intent.

Apparently it was an accident. Someone put adult doses in the cabinet for babies. The nurse didn't read the label, she just assumed.
I hope they sue the nurse for every thing she's got. And the nurse needs to lose her certification and do time. She should have read the freakin label!

I heard about this and I heard it was an accident. I heard it was premature newborn twins and he accidentally gave them adult blood thinner. I haven't heard about any settlements but I definitely think he shouldn't be practicing medicine anymore.
