I work full time shift work. I cant leave my job and have a mortgage as do most. But I really want to engage my brain other than with the work I do. I have seen a degree but its around £8k in total - then there is the problem with classes being when shifts are - i want to do a psychology degree - live in Herefordshire. Anyone got any ideas?

Open University is a great option for busy people. You study in your own time and you can plan well ahead and make sure your free for tutorials, of which there are only a few. I think doing a degree there will be about the same price though.

Have you thought about going through the open university? They offer lots of the degrees. Take a look at their website. The best thing about it is you can study in your own time and you don't have to go to classes etc. I did a Psychology degree and found it really interesting so good choice.

I have a full time job (10am - 6pm) and am studying towards a Degree in Natural Sciences at the OU - its fantastic! Like you I started to do a course to engage my brain but now I realise that I can still achieve more then just solely satisfaction from brain-engaging :)

Whichever the course you do, make sure at the end of it you will qualified for the Resisteration basis for Psychological society thingy, which enable you to go "proper" further study in Occupational Psychology, Chrinical Psychology etc., it will come handy if you are thinking of career change, though I do not think it is as rosy as you might think.

Have you thought of studying through the Open University? I started a few years ago and have found it very rewarding and you can spread the cost of courses over a longer period of study.

psychology degree is usually less than nine hours per week in class. You can fit a lot round that.

Why not see if you can get a student loan and see what kind of money you would be entitled to for living expenses, etc.
