Here are a couple of good sites that offer suggestions for sightseeing:

And like the person above me mentioned, this is our Thanksgiving weekend so some businesses might be closed.

If you like skating, you could check out Le1000 - it's apparently open on Thanksgiving day. http://www.le1000.com/index_en.asp It's a very cool skating rink in a huge atrium.

Also, that time of year should be beautiful with the fall colours - Mont Royal would be a great place to explore:

If you like amusement parks, La Ronde (Six Flags) has a haunted theme every weekend in October. http://www.laronde.com/en/

Also, here are the event listings for those dates:

One of the events is the Magic of Lanterns at the Montreal Botanical Garden which is a must see. http://www2.ville.montreal.qc.ca/jardin/en/propos/lanternes.htm

Old Montreal is beautiful. If you can do the horse and carriage ride, it's great. They give you a guided tour with lots of information. You also want to take the Metro (subway). Montreal's metro stations are really artistic and different. There is the Biodome, lots of museums and art galleries. You definitely need to include a trip to Mont Royale as well.

My only visit there was 25 years ago. But I remember enjoying riding a horse-drawn carriage, the Musee des Beaux Arts, St Joseph's Oratory, the view from Mt Royal and the atmosphere around old Montreal in the evening. Notre Dame was so nice I said (aged nine) that one day I wouold get married there.

You could go to my parents' for Thanksgiving, that's what I'd do. (Monday is Canadian Thanksgiving, but stores and most things are open.)

Mount Royal is gorgeous in October, leaves are all colourful.
