Gay friendly is important... It was one of the reasons I went to Oberlin, and why I would recommend it to anyone, but it would also be good for you to focus on a few other things...

1. Size: of the college and/or of the town or city it is in. And class size- do you want to know your profs or do you want to fade into the crowd?

2. Majors- if you want to study history- dont pick a school known only for science.

3. Fraternities- do you want them or not?

4. Sports- do you want to have big, competitive teams- or do you want to have small teams that you may even get to play on?

Other things to consider are: religious life, study abroad, living and dining options, etc. I'd also take a looka t current clubs and groups on campus- you'll get a good idea of what the other students are like this way.

Write me if you have more questions or if you would like suggestions after you have thought about these questions.

Good luck!!!

Y'know, you should probably be choosing your college based on more than that. What are you going to study? Does the college you are interested in have that major? How big should the campus be? Are you interested in playing sports, being in the band, or sitting on a student advisory board? All of these things should be included in your decision in addition to your personal criteria. I mean, this is just my opinion, but it is something to think about. There are any number of colleges that will match up to what you want. I'm sure you will find the right one for you. Good Luck!
