IT will prosper in india irrespective of what foreign policy comes in. There are less than 1% organizations in india that uses IT actively (computerized completely), compared to much mature markets in west. The boom has picked up, industry is more stable day by day and will reach its peak again in 2-3 years .. this goes in cycle. When small-medium indian companies realize the need for IT, to stay competitive in thier respective business, the requirement for IT pro will be tremendous. And think about the requirements coming from other countries as well... need will be exponential. IT is not ruled by america, as it is preceived.

In other engineering, say civil, if they need a bridge, they will build it. As traffic grows, they will again reshape it or extend it.. then it looks like the need is over, but no.. as it gets older, they need to patch it (maintainence) every now and then.. after 10 yrs, someone suggest a better design.. so they demolish and build again. This is what exactly happens in IT industry too.. the software is not "once written and forget" model. The software changes so rapidly to keep cope with business and market change and those who dont wish to upgrade, get left behind. Thats how IT is ties with organizations, irrespective of what they do.. they need IT to survive and to prosper. Hence IT will stay as long as man uses money to do business.

Boom - this is a word which is related to demand and supply theory. Once the demand is saturated, you can say boom is down and if more is the demand for IT professionals, then you can say it as boom - but the industry stays stable or it will grow. I see no point why industry get down. So, with the current scenario, the boom should last for another 5 to 10 years and may lapse for 5 years, and then again recover. Hope you are satisfied.

As with any new industry the IT industry experienced huge expectations. When the reality became clear it started to fall. The IT managers knew its no longer going to be bed of roses & adopted different stratigies & more realistic appraoc. This led to the recovery of the IT industry & later stabilization. This happens with any new industry. The situation now is going to last for a long long time. Whether IT is in boom or not one is not going to survive in the industry if he doesn't have talents he can boost of. That makes me wonder, wheather boom or not how's that going to affect a person seeking employment in the industry. Doesn't boom has more to do with the bussinessmen than to with employess or job seekers. I say this because good skill is always in demand.

wat does IT industry boom mean?
it's the development of various softwares being done at a fast pace.
but how long will it takes to develop all the softwares used in our daily life? may be 6-7 years at max.
and after that the developing of softwares slows down and people only use that software and there in the IT industry there will be more troubleshooting than sofware development.
so I guess the boom in IT industry may persist for another 6-7 years
