Well, yes, that's why it's called a Beta. How much memory do you have in your system? I'm asking because Vista is going to want to use about 500MB or so. I don't really know how much memory Vista uses but I do know that when playing Half Life 2 on Vista, memory usage was at 826MB, quite a chunk if you only have 1GB, hopeless if you have less than that. While I don't think WMP uses THAT much memory, i fyou have less than 512MB and trying to do other stuff in Vista, it's possible you will run into trouble just like that.

As for the DVD-Rom issue, Vista should have the drivers for it, and unless you have a mainstream drive from NEC or Lite-ON, Samsung, Sony, et al then you may not be able to find Vista drivers for it. I'm just saying it should work... try uninstalling the drive in Device Manager and see if it loads the drivers when you reboot, if that doesn't work, I honestly don't know.

If you can get your hands on Vista RC1, I would reccomend getting that as it is far more stable and reliable, I'm not saying you won't have issues just that it is better but it will still want to use a good chunk of your memory, again 1GB or more for standard stuff, 2GB if you want to do any kind of gaming.
