I have been leaning towards a more spirtitually outlook on life. The whole concept of a God and a man named Jesus is hard for me to put faith in. How do we know that the story of God is just not a myth the human race made up to indulge our imaginations? We have prooved why it rains, or how crops grow, but in the past the God Thor was used to explain why it rained and crops grew. Maybe now we use God as an explaination for why we are here, or the creatin of the universe, or why we love. Please someone give some feedback on my questions, and disbeliefs. Thank You

Common sense will tell you that if there were a god like the one described in the bible, he would be both visible and audible to every person on the planet.

Yahweh (the bible God) was originally a sky god - a god of thunder and lightning. He was associated with mountains and was called by the enemies of Israel 'a god of the hills'. His manifestation was often as fire, as at Mount Sinai and "the burning bush". Originally, the four consonants YHWH represented the four members of the Heavenly Family: Y represented El the Father; H was Asherah the Mother; W corresponded to He the Son; and H was the Daughter Anath. In accordance with the royal traditions of the time and region, God's mysterious bride, the Matronit, was also believed to be his sister.

All gods given human qualities are fiction.

It's glaringly obvious, if you really think about it, that whatever "God" is, it would never be written down in a book or whispered in someone's ear by angelic hosts. It would never require learning prayers or magical verses, or having blind faith in mystical fairy tales.

Whatever "God" is is here and now. There. You. Me. The Cosmos. Everyone. Everything. Eternal. Science. Cosmic laws. Discovery. Truth.

"God" doesn't have to prove its existence. It simply "is", without judgment or heaven or hell, or demons or superstitions. Other than its natural laws, it doesn't intervene, and it doesn't judge. It doesn't require adoration or obedience. This is the real "God" but it's very rarely discovered by those who want to give their god human characteristics.

I'd really like to believe in all of that, but there are just way more questions than answers. I don't know that you should believe in a book written over 2000 Years Ago (and you don't even know who the author was)... We're sometimes torn between what one would hope to be reality or just a Fairy Tale used to help give us an answer... Sarah McLachlan wrote about "...a cross and a faith that died before Jesus came..." I don't want to pretend that I know how she was feeling or what she was questioning, but we are "Building A Mystery" and asking for some deep feelings when we bring religion into question... And how about all of the other religions that have come and gone throughout history? Not everyone can be right!!! And what about all of the grief and turmoil brought upon humanity by religion (still to this day)? So, the question remains the same- Is Christianity the truth? Is Science the truth for life? I'd like to believe in something wonderful after this life for the sake of my kids... If I believe, then they are the reasoning for the belief...

Talking about this is like talking about abortion , it will never be solved . I dont believe in the Bible , I was raised in a pagan environment . A good web site is www.egypt-tehuti.com , and a good book to read is Historical Deception the untold story of ancient Egypt . I really dont think God cares what name you use for him . I think the more advance we get the further away from God we get . Ancient people were more spiritual than people now . Follow what ever you think is right and feel the most comfortable . After all that is your privilege of having Free Will . In that Book I recommended Jesus was a real person , but you wont believe who he really is , and there is overwhelming proof that Jesus 1460 years earlier than the Bible says . I'll give you a hint KING TUT .

These are all fundamental questions that people have before they arrive at their faith, or lack of it. It is difficult for me at times, a man of faith, to be faithful. Yet, my core being knows that there is a God. For you, your journey will be different than mine. You are already asking the right questions needed to find your path in life. Read as much as you can about God, religion, life, etc. Don't feel the need to believe the words you read verbatim; but, come to your own conclusions. Faith is a very individual thing. You are an individual who seeks knowledge and spirituality. Books teach knowledge. Spirituality comes from the knowledge of God's existence.

Well for a young person you
certainly have a lot of questions.

There is not one single reason
why you should believe the teachings
of book written over two thousand
years ago. A lot of people do,
however. There is not one single
person with a gun to your head
saying believe this or you will die.
But, they come pretty close, don't
they? They threaten you with all
kinds of hereafter banishment,
pain, and suffering. We all like
to have friends and be part of
the crowd. So, to keep folks
happy, to keep from being kicked
out of the crowd, don't rock the
boat... just say okay, and let it
go. There are to many of these
weirdos to win any argument
with them. Just whistle while you
work. Forget about it.

properly, people have faith in books written some years or days in the past too!! We pass to college and are strategies washed by making use of historic previous, technology etc, issues that we are going to have faith blindly... like a guy went to the moon, rely can produces life, vaccination is sturdy, meat is for person, etc and etc... maximum individuals they only settle for what others wtih some status mentioned, in spite of this person is a prophet, a doctor, a instructor, a scientist, a father, etc... unhappy certainly...

Lets look at myth BARE WITH ME for a minute Lets look at one common myth that is very very old.
Buddha was born from his mothers side in some stories a virgin birth
Jesus was born of a virgin and her virgininty was restored
look for virgin births in mythology and you will find plenty,
WHats the point lets look at what it means using another myth
In india we have point of Chakras along our Bodies the lower 3 chakras refer to our animal nature lust greed pride the need to make war. However in the heart chakra we awaken to to Compasion, selflessness sacrifice charity the best of human nature. The spirit.
Unless we act from our upper chakras and are REBORN we will not reach the kingdom of heaven. This is what being born again means. We are All reborn in to this virgin birht when we act from our upper chakras.
So all the stories. everyone tells us how to look into our inner selves they are all guides to the INNER space of human conciosness, It is when we intrepret them as history and not as metaphor that we loose the meaning and they of course no longer touch the soul and leave us feeling empty. To fill that hole many have started to judge others and that ego rush replaces what used to be undestood this is why such wonderfull guides to the better nature in man have been used for war and judgement. To make HELL right here.
JUST BECAUSE HUMANS NEED TO PUT THINGS INTO CULTURAL CONTEXT TO ATTEMPT TO KNOW THE TRANCENDENT DOES NOT MEAN THERE IS NO GOD>
Use the tools God gave you to better your life here and now look for the lesons that help us grow through the stages of life. That what the stories are for.
Dont stop at the Bible read all of them and you will find they are all the same.

Here is an idea for you. Next time you are about your day Pay attention to the little things that happens in your day. Examine it, your close calls, your' i am glad that happend or glad that did not happened. If you look hard enough god will show you the answers. There are things that no one knows about you, things that would embrassed you, shame or disappoint you. God knows all of those things and does not judge you one bit. That is what is so good about believing in something more powerful than yourself. There are things that happen to us on a daily basis. Unconsciously and Consciously, God is usually the unconsciously, our aggorance is usually the concious part. have faith. the funny thing about god is that when he wants your attention, he will get your attention whether you are ready to give it to him or not. be prepared for it

I used to wonder the same thing. How do we know the Bible isn't just a fictional story made up by people? Then I started to look at the things around me, even just myself. How do you explain the many facets and complexities of how humans work? How do you explain how mountains were truly formed? Just think about it and if you have faith, you will soon see that there is a higher power watching over you.

Because it was written over 2000 years ago based on a God in the Sky. It has been proved right time and time again.(Archaeological digs) Prophecies have come true, and continue to come true. These are tests of literature. No?
Further more this book asks you to prove for yourself whether God is "real" or not. What does God need to do to prove to you he is real. That he is there. Are you afraid of what you will find?
