This is rarely a choice as they are forced in to this by modern day slavery. I.e being trafficked into a country and then made drug dependant. The threat of their children being abused, killed and or raped if they don't become a prostitute. Sex discrimination, racism, poverty is a major influence into this. Most women that have been abused as children and labelled as a "whore" from a young age are more likely to become a prostitute. ITS NOT because they like dick or its allot of money...

You know I really wish I could answer this question, were I live we have a woman of 25 who has been a prostitute since the age of 14, she comes from a very comfortable home with good grounding and education, her parents are both very well educated and want for nothing, they permanently turn a blind eye to their daughters behaviour and act like they have never met her, she is a mar on our area and the police often pick her up for doing what she does, I do not know why she feels she has to do this to herself and can honestly see no reason for it either.

The first reason they need MONEY!
The second reason the people she belong to need Money from her!!
The women who are Drug addicts, minors, desperately poor women, women controlled by pimps, foreigners smuggled and controlled by organized crime.
Many feminists agree, seeing prostitution as sexual slavery under any
circumstances. "Prostitution seriously undermines the autonomy of women,"
I don't think there's any way that people should be led to believe that women enter into prostitution voluntarily, that there's forced prostitution and non-forced, so-called voluntary, prostitution."

It depends what kind of prostitution it is. A woman who works in a legal brothel (they have them in Nevada) does it because the pay is great, and it's a safe, clean environment. A prostitute who works the streets...well...maybe she's too ugly to get a job at a good place? I dunno, I can't imagine why someone would work for peanuts and take all those risks.

The majority do it to pay for their drug habit. It is a nasty cycle as they need drugs for their habit and they need money to fund it but they can't get a job because of it and their only option is prostitution. Drugs are the root of all evil.

Low self esteem

Drug habit

Forced into it.

Abusive relationships

Sexual/Physical/Mental abuse as a child

Need to support their kids and can think of no other way to get enough money quickly.

Have you noticed no one says " Because they enjoy it"?

What does that tell us about the men who use prostitutes, 'cause surely they must have noticed that missing link as well!

Dude, some women are forced into it. Ever hear of the sex trade in India, China, and those third world nations where they sell off their women for slavery?
