I recently noticed my steering wheel starting to shake when I brake. I had a friend change the pads, and he said the rotors are ok, but probably need to be turned within a few months. After he changed the pads, the shaking didn't stop, and has progressively gotten worse. I noticed this morning that there is a "hollow creeking" noise when I turn the car, and when I get going pretty fast (50MPH or so), there is a rattling noise.

Any ideas?

The shaking during brakeing is nearly always associated with rotors & or drums not being pertfectly flat (rotors) or perfectly round (drums). Don't think the noise turning is associated with the brake problem. Possibly P/S noise if equipped with P/S. Ck.fluid if you havn't already. Is there a shake at about 50 if so that noise points to a wheel balance problem.

The shaking for the time of brakeing is exceedingly much consistently linked with rotors & or drums not being pertfectly flat (rotors) or completely around (drums). do not think of the noise turning is linked with the brake difficulty. probably P/S noise if geared up with P/S. Ck.fluid in case you havn't already. Is there a shake at approximately 50 if so as that noise factors to a wheel stability difficulty.

Take a look at the roaters, when is the last time you had em turned? It they are too thin, they will warp and cause a shaking when you brake at high speeds. You need the to get the front end looked at asap, I'm talking about ball joints, and all that stuff. Good luck.

To start turn the rotors . Then have the front end checked and the tires .Take it to a shop don't let just anyone work on your brakes or front end its just to important to let a shade tree mess with .
