I've seen many girls in my sister's school and i think they take the "paris hilton" thing too much, i mean something like "pink", "lil dogs" , "princess", "diamond" ...it is not bad to like all that stuff, but the bad news is, are they actually don't know who they are anymore, are they try too hard just to fit in?

I think they are at the stage where they just don't know who they are and are trying too hard to fit in. It would happen with or without media influence. I think we can try to have the best influence possible on the young girls in our lives. We can give them encouragement, let them know that they are strong, beautiful, wonderful, smart...Just encourage what is special about them. I once told my young nieces what I thought was special about them. I picked out their talents and strengths; it was something different for each of them. When I did that, they got this smile. It wasn't a big smile, it was very subtle, but I could tell it reached something in them. It's a hard age to be, so when we can take moments to make them feel special we should. Use your influence. The media will be there, and it will be an influence, but we should be there to help them through the hard times. Oh and one other thing, we should counter everything negative they hear about being a girl. I hate it when men and boys throw around "you (throw, hit, run, etc) like a girl". What kind of message does that send to girls? It really pisses me off.

They are afraid of not being "accepted". I've felt like that all my life, but I don't go following trends to make friends. That would be getting a friend that would be false because they are also not being who they truely are.

I guess that's why I've never had a true friend...no one has yet to meet my "requirements" of worthyness. I'm not saying that to be mean either...I don't want a false friend, I want someone for who they are, beit male or female. They are hard to find...
