In 1982, my co-driver (stepfather) in a semi truck caught the edge of the road, that had been recently resurfaced, but the guardrails were not yet put back. It was in the Mohave desert in California. Over 60 miles from the nearest city. We went down a steep embankment, but there boulders at the bottom. As they passed under the semi, the second trailer was torn off and the first trailer did a 360 degree turn on the fifth wheel, smashing the cab from the frame. I woke up 50 yards away with several broken bones. I could see my stepfather trying to find me. His eyes were covered in blood and an arm torn up pretty good. I have no idea how he survived. He was in the driver's seat while I was in the sleeper.

I had to direct him up to the road way to flag down a car, as they were going right pass and not seeing us down below. It was past midnight.

It took over an hour for rescue to arrive, though I didn't know it as I kept passing out. They didn't have rescue helicopters at the time, so we had to be taken back to the nearest city hospital, who stabilized us, than 90 miles to a larger one that could handle the severity of our injuries.

The military had some great photos of me sailing out over the desert, but they would not release them. We only learned about them when a couple of scientist got drunk at a bar near Edwards Air Force base and talked about photographing us as the accident took place. The camera was a new model. They were photographing the VIN numbers on cars driving down the highway, from 30 miles away.

At 22 I was involved in a car accident. I was in traffice on a busy interstate going to work when I tractor trailer (w/o the trailer) didn't stop in time and hit in the back of my car (I was driving a GEO Metro - door wedge on wheels) It pushed me into the car in front and crumped my car like an accordian. I don't remember the accident too much but my Mom says I was in coma for 1 week and 3 years later I was able to walk a bit and brush my hair. That was almost 10 years ago and I am able to honestly say I am a walking miracle. I wasn't expected to live. I had a lacerated spleen, bleeding liver, severe head injuries (I am still not able to see as well as I should - colors and headaches), broken ribs and leg (11 surgeries on my leg and more to go) I now have a different outlook. No I am not a holy roller but spiritual and closer to family as ever. I may never be able to have children but I happy just be here to tell that story:)

My worst accident would have to be when I was in the fifth grade....you know how they put those metal bars on playgrounds that kids can swing around, like gymnasts? Well...I was on the lowest one, which is about 4 feet high, and I was sitting on it with my arms under the bar and wrapped around my knees, and I was just going around in circles...at some point I let go and my head smacked into the concrete, and I remember waking up, with blood running down my face into my eyes. I remember looking at my left thumb because it hurt really bad, and seeing my thumbnail torn halfway off, and pushing it back into place. I remember one of my shoes falling off, and freaking out because I had to walk from the playground to the office with only one shoe. I remember getting into the office and the nurse telling me I had to wash my face myself, because of health issues and them not being able to do it. I almost passed out. My mom had to come pick me up from school. Didn't need stitches, and the next day at school, everyone was fascinated with the huge gash in the very middle of my forehead at my hairline. Now I've got a lovely one-inch long scar where my hair grows all frazzled.

I have yet to have a worse accident. I did have a car accident two years ago, but I was not injured. My car, on the other hand, was totalled, thanks to some b*tch driving a stick-shift who felt it unnecessary to stop for the red light.

I've never had a serious accident, but i have seen a Humvee blown 20 feet in the opposite direction and have had to sort through the remains of 5 soldiers. then i had to take care of a kid that a team leader shot in the chest because he had a bomb strapped to him, as i was working he started ticking. he blew up a minute and a half later. I.E.D.'s don't care who you are.

I was driving down a 2 lane highway out in a rural part of the city up and down hills. A dog ran out in front of me and I swerved to avoid hitting it. I hit a brick house and totaled my SUV. They said they don't know how I survived the accident. But I do..
#1 new vehicle=newer airbags that worked wonderfully.
#2 I did wear my seatbelt
#3 I know that God was with me that day. It is the only explanation
